Tour Charleston
During our 90 minute walking ghost tour, our City of Charleston licensed tour guides recount hauntings and supernatural events from our best-selling book The Ghosts of Charleston. We are fortunate to have many repeat guests, and lots of tales to share, so we switch things up nightly by varying ghosts stories on every tour. There is no experience like walking enchanted Charleston at night, listening to our supernatural stories, and encountering what you will see and hear in the Unitarian Church Graveyard.
Stop At:
Unitarian Church in Charleston
The highlight of Tour Charleston's Ghosts of Charleston Tour is entering the lush, spellbinding Unitarian Church Graveyard built in 1772. Real time hauntings occur only a handful of times a year. However, since 1996, when we started what is now Charleston's oldest ghost tour, spirits in the Unitarian Church Graveyard have reached out to many people on our tour in visual, tactile and auditory ways.

Charleston Legends Late at Night
Allen_B
, Oct 2021
We arrived at Buxton Books at 9:15 and checked in for our 9:30 tour. Our name was called and we set out, but another couple joined the tour saying they were suppose to be in our group and we had to go back and wait?? Apparently there were two tours happening at the same time. Our tour guide, Simon was late showing up, but only about 15 minutes. This guy could lay it on thick. He has done this many times before and knew exactly what he was going to say before he said it. I believe he could walk this tour blindfolded and would still know exactly where he was. He knew a lot of historical facts about the area and ghosts. He had oodles of stories and legends about the city. He had pictures on his phone of when some of his groups had seen ghosts. The only drawback was—- nearing the “end” of the tour (I say the “end” because the tour went 30 minutes over) we were in the Unitarian Graveyard and Simon kept repeating himself over and over. We were so ready to go, but didn’t want to be rude. Overall, a great experience. Tips: WEAR WALKING SHOES!! So many ladies were wearing heels, I know their feet were dying based on how they were walking. Tip #2 LADIES DONT WEAR A SHORT DRESS. Especially if you don’t know how to sit down like a lady while wearing one. There were a few times we were able to sit down and rest (sitting on the ground or a step) and I didn’t enjoy seeing your underwear or lack thereof. Tip #3 TAKE SOMETHING TO DRINK, BUT PEE BEFORE YOU GO. There’s no bathroom or snack breaks.

Mr. Neil was a great story teller and wonderful guide. It was a perfect night to take a ghost walk. Going into the cemetery was an added bonus.

Should have a golf cart. Cheesy tour guide. Not scary. Would have preferred a carriage ride. Not a great description on line.

Awful experience

If you’re looking for more of a history tour than a ghost tour, then this is the tour for you. Our guide seemed to be a theatre major as he acted out the few mentions of ghosts, but it was very over the top and a bit too much which was a turn off for most of the group. At one point he acted out a scene and was snarling in my husbands face…without a mask…during covid which may not be a big deal to some, but we deemed it inconsiderate. We ended up bailing on the tour 2/3 the way in and grabbed dessert.

Loved all the stories but favorite was the horrible accident on the old bridge. I really liked Coleman’s poems and his personal story. My favorite part was the last cemetery, so amazing!
